Hoppers

I have 7 hoppers of which 5 are scratch built.

My first hopper (#10 J&B) was built along the lines of an ETW&NC hopper.

It's all wood with some metal slope sheets.

The foam bridge was attacked by squirrels!   It was a quick, easy build, but the squirrels destroyed it.

When I attended the East Coast Large Scale Train show in 2008, Rich Yoder was there with his imported all-metal EBT hoppers.

I showed him the EBT Boxcar that I had built and he offered to trade even.  I immediately accepted.

I built a set of four hoppers using plans for ET&WNC hoppers.

These are much more to scale and fidelity towards the prototype than my original model.

All lumber was cut to scale from basswood sheets.

The grab irons were individually formed to the prototypical shape and size.

For some reason, I ended up with all even numbers:  12, 18, 28, and 40, but all are lettered for the ET&WNC.
